First and foremost we welcome you to the City of Manchester Distillery Rum Experience in the best way possible, with rum! We give you a brief introduction to the distillery and the amazing city we reside in.
The history of rum is a story of empires, of slaves, of slavers, of plantations and pirates. It is dark and dangerous and its roots are the roots of revolution. To know where we’re going it’s important to look at where we have been. We take you on an immersive journey right back to the discovery of sugar cane then up to modern times with a look at latest rum revolution just on the horizon.
Following the history we take you down into the distillery for another cocktail and talk you through the processes used in the production of a variety of different rums. There will also be the opportunity to sample Rum, Rhum and Ron and learn the differences between these unique styles.
At this point, with an understanding of the origins of rum and how it is made, we move to ‘The Lab’. Here you will have the opportunity to distill your own rum from our ‘low wines’. Following the distillation you will blend and barrel the rum in your very own mini oak cask to take home.
Naturally the experience concludes at our bar where we round off the evening with an original recipe classic rum cocktail!
